General Aftercare Guidelines

1. Keep the Area Moist

  • Use an ointment to keep the treated area moist 24/7 for at least 10 days. This protects the area from oxygen exposure, which could alter the pigment, and ensures proper color setting.

Recommended Products:

  • Aquaphor Healing Ointment
  • CeraVe Healing Ointment
  • A&D Ointment
  • Tattoo-Specific Aftercare Products (e.g., Hustle Butter, Tattoo Goo)

Tip: Always test a small amount on your skin first to ensure compatibility. If you are allergic to any of these, consult your technician for additional recommendations.

2. Avoid Washing

  • Do not wash the treated area for 24-48 hours after the procedure.

3. Things to Avoid for 10 Days

  • Makeup on the treated area.
  • Excessive sweating from exercise or other activities.
  • Swimming or submerging the area in water.
  • Tanning or direct sunlight.
  • Hot saunas or steam rooms.
  • Laser treatments, chemical peels, or Botox in the area.
  • Gardening and contact with animals (including pets) — Avoid for at least 7–10 days to reduce risk of contamination and infection

Tip: Always test a small amount on your skin first to ensure compatibility. If you are allergic to any of these, consult your technician for additional recommendations.

Tips for Healing

Apply Ointment Throughout the Day

  • Use a cotton swab to gently apply your chosen product. The area should never feel dry.

Pat Excess Fluid

  • For the first four hours post-procedure, pat the treated area with a paper towel every 30 minutes to remove excess blood or fluid.

Prevent Infection

  • Avoid touching the area with your fingers to reduce the risk of bacterial contamination.

Protect the Area

  • Use a total sunblock sunscreen after the area has healed to prevent pigment fading.
  • Avoid skincare products containing AHA ingredients (e.g., glycolic or lactic acids) as they can fade the pigment.

Special Instructions for Eyeliner

1. Reduce Swelling

  • Ice the area every 30 minutes on the day of the procedure.

2. Two-Week Restrictions

  • Avoid eyelash tinting, perming, or applying extensions.

By using the recommended products and following these steps, you’ll set yourself up for a successful and smooth healing process. If you have any concerns, reach out to your artist promptly.
